MBB: Bulldogs Open Season On The Road Against Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will open the 2017-18 season on the road this Friday (Nov. 10th), when they to take on the Badgers of Wisconsin in a 6 p.m. (CT)/7 p.m. (ET) tipoff at the Kohl Center.

The game will be streamed live on BTN Plus and heard on the Badger Sports Network.

"We are grateful to arrive here in Madison, Wisconsin safely," said SC State head coach Murray Garvin. "To give our students the opportunity to play versus a nationally recognized basketball program like Wisconsin is a privilege and opportunity that yields great rewards and lifelong memories for our guys."

"It's the start of another year of college basketball, what more do you need to be excited about," stated Garvin. "We look forward to competing to our maximum ability and representing South Carolina State University in a first-class manner."

This will be the first meeting between the two teams in school history. The Badgers are 14-0 all-time against teams from the MEAC, most recently topping Florida A&M, 90-37, last season.

South Carolina State will embark on a tough 9-day road trip beginning with the Badgers, followed by a Sunday, Nov. 12 (1 p.m.) matchup at Boston College, a Tuesday, Nov. 14 game (7 p.m.) at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. and a Friday, Nov. 17 game (9 p.m.) at AP-ranked No. 21 UCLA in Los Angeles. Both Wisconsin and UCLA were Elite Eight teams this past March.

The Bulldogs were picked seventh (7th) in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Poll and return seven letter winners and welcome six newcomers to the squad this season.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin posted a 27-10 record last season, reaching at least 20 wins for the 11th straight season, returns just one starter from last season, in 2017 third-team All-American Ethan Happ.
