HAMPTON, VA—The South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs seek their second straight league win as they take on top-ranked Hampton Wednesday (Jan.25) in the first of a MEAC doubleheader at the HU Convocation Center.
Tipoff is 5 p.m.
In their last outing the Lady Bulldogs knocked off Morgan State, 50-48, in Orangeburg. Graduate guard
Bryeasha Blair led the way with a game-high 21 points, while forward
Brittany Drumgoole finished the games only double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hampton held off rival Norfolk State 58-57 to improve to 11-7 overall, 5-0 in the MEAC. Ashley Bates led the Lady Pirates with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Blair ranks 2
nd in the MEAC in scoring and lead the Lady Bulldogs with 17.8 points per game, while Drumgoole adds 11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg. Junior forward
Jahmia Bradley is the leader on the boards with 7.3 rebounds and 8.4 points. Sophomore center
JaQuanna Murray has come on strong in the post in s reserve role with 6.1 points and 6.1 rebounds.
The top-ranked Lady Pirates are led by last season's and this year's Player of the Year Malia Tate-Defreitas with 17.2 points per game. Teammate Monnaz Finney-Smith is second with 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds. Kaylah Lupoe leads HU in rebounds with 6.6, 8.1 points and 2.4 blocks per contest.

SC State will remain on the road when they travel to Princess Anne, MD to take Maryland-Eastern Shore in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday (Jan. 28). Tipoff for the women is 2 p.m., with the men following in a 4 p.m. start.
