HAMPTON, VA---The South Carolina State men's basketball team will embark on its first of a three-game road trip in seven days, when they travel to host Hampton University in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday (Jan. 25) at the HU Convocation Center. Tipoff is 7 p.m., immediately following the women's contest.
The MEAC doubleheader with Hampton was originally set for Saturday, Jan. 7, but was rescheduled to due to a bad snow storm impacting the Hampton Roads area.
The last time the two teams met on the hardwood they split a pair of victories with SC State defeating Hampton 67-62 (1/25/16) on the road, before dropping a tough 81-69 (3/12/16) defeat in the MEAC Championship game in Norfolk, VA.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Eric Eaves powers the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, while junior forward
Tashombe Riley adds much needed scoring in the frontcourt at 11.7 points and 4.9 rebounds. Guard's senior
Greg Mortimer (2.4 apg) and junior James "JJ" Richardson chips in a little over 9.5 points and
Edward Stephens (7.2 ppg) controls the tempo on the floor with 2.2 assist.
SCOUTING HAMPTON (6-12 overall, 3-2 MEAC): A pair of Pirates is in double-figures with Jermaine Marrow leading the way with 14.2 points and 2.9 rebounds. Lawrence Cooks is second with 11.8 ppg, 4.9 rebounds, while Charles Wilson-Fisher (5.9 ppg) and AJ Astroth (5.6 ppg) are the leaders in the frontcourt grabbing a little over 5.5 rebounds per outing.

SC State will remain on the road when they travel to Princess Anne, MD to take Maryland-Eastern Shore in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday (Jan. 28). Tipoff for the men is 4 p.m., immediately following the women in a 2 p.m. start.
