ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's basketball team will host the visiting Savannah State Lady Tigers Monday (Jan. 16) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown
at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs (3-10 overall, 0-2 MEAC) look to get back on the winning track after suffering a tough 64-34 defeat to top-ranked Bethune-Cookman on Saturday (Jan. 14) in Orangeburg. Last season SC State swept Savannah State 56-43 in Orangeburg (2/3/16) and 61-53 in Savannah (3/8/16).
SSU (3-13 overall, 1-3 MEAC) snapped a three-game MEAC losing streak with an 56-52 win over Florida A&M on Saturday in their last outing. The Lady Tigers were led by Lauren Moss with a team-high 16 points, while Jeremica Edwards grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
SCOUTING THE LADY BULLDOGS: Graduate guard
Bryeasha Blair is the leader for SC State with 17.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. Junior forward
Brittany Drumgoole adds 10.8 ppg and 4.4 rpg. Junior
Jahmia Bradley heads the frontcourt with 7.2 rebounds and 8.5 points. Sophomore center
JaQuanna Murray chips in 6.5 points and 6.1 rebounds in a reserve role.
SCOUTING SAVANNAH STATE: Two players are in double-figures for SSU with Kenyata Hendrix leading the way with 11.4 points and Lauren Moss at 10.2 per outing. Tiyonda Davis (7.9) and Edwards (6.4) are the leaders on the boards, while Davis is second in the league in blocks at 3.4.

SC State will return to MEAC play in the first of a doubleheader Saturday (Jan. 21) against visiting Delaware State at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff for the women is 2 p.m., with the men's contest following immediately afterwards in a 4 p.m. start.
