Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Sophomore Briana Dafney tallied a match-high 15 kills, but it was not enough as the SC State women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-17) on Tuesday night at Dukes Gym.
SC State (0-9) fought hard in each set, but just could not get past the persistent Runnin' Bulldogs (4-2).
Dafney hit .275 and added five digs, two aces and two block assists. Freshman Fabiola Plaza had a match-best 24 assists, while junior Marcella Chestnut led the team with 10 digs. Junior Ashante Finnie finished with nine digs, five kills and one solo block in her season debut.
The Lady Bulldogs hit the road again this weekend to play in the Campbell University Invitational on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, they play Navy and East Carolina at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively and then take on host Campbell at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
