Box Score 2 ATLANTA, Ga. – The South Carolina State women's volleyball team suffered two straight-set losses in the Georgia State University Invitational this weekend. They fell 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-18) to host GSU on Friday night and then lost 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14) to East Carolina on Saturday morning.
Against GSU, Briana Dafney led the team with eight kills and added two service aces, three digs and two block assists.
Fabiola Plaza finished with 12 assists, while
Marcella Chestnut and
Ashante Finnie each had five digs.
Dafney was SC State's (0-14) offensive leader in the ECU match. She recorded five kills and one total block. Finnie had four kills, two digs and one ace, and Chestnut four kills, four digs, one solo block and one assist.
Alexis Moses led the defense with five digs and Plaza matched her output from the first match with 12 assists.
SC State opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend with matches at Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. The Lady Bulldogs play at FAMU on Friday at noon and then travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. to take on B-CU at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
