Box Score 3 BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The South Carolina State women's volleyball team dropped three matches in the 2016 Campbell University Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Gore Arena.
On the first day of competition, the Lady Bulldogs fell 3-0 to both Navy (25-7, 25-10, 25-8) and East Carolina (25-13, 25-15, 25-5). On Saturday morning, Campbell posted a straight-set win (25-14, 25-8, 25-10) over SC State.
For the weekend, sophomore Briana Dafney, who earned all-tournament honors for the second straight weekend, totaled 11 kills, 10 digs and four block assists. Junior
Ashante Finnie tallied seven kills, six digs and two total blocks in the three matches, while freshman
Fabiola Plaza recorded 26 assists, seven digs and three kills. Junior
Marcella Chestnut finished with 18 digs, five kills, one service ace and one assist in nine sets.
Up next for the Lady Bulldogs is the Georgia State Invitational which will be held on Friday and Saturday. They play host GSU at 6 p.m. on Friday and ECU for the second time this season at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
