Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Despite having season highs of 21 shots, nine shots on goal and one goal, the South Carolina State women's soccer team ended Friday night's double overtime match at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium against USC Upstate in a 1-1 tie.
Both teams played a scoreless first half, but SC State (0-2-1) got on the board in the 53
rd minute when freshman
Jamey Thomas headed a corner kick by senior
Alexandra Kidd into the back of the net for the Lady Bulldogs' first score of the season.
A goal by Upstate's Autumn Gore thirteen minutes later tied the match at 1-all.
Neither team could score over the last 24 minutes of regulation, forcing overtime. The scoring drought continued through both extra periods, which gave both teams their first tie of the season.

Jacqueline Beristain took team-high four shots (two on goal) for SC State, while senior
Marissa Horton, junior
Tierra Pullard, sophomore
Justine Zepeda and Thomas each took three shots.
Redshirt senior
Katelyn Kern spent all 110 minutes in goal, allowing one score and saving four shots.
The Lady Bulldogs take their first road trip of the season on Tuesday when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on Winthrop University. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m.
