ROCK HILL, SC—The South Carolina State men's tennis posted another impressive non-conference victory, in a 4-3 victory over Winthrop Monday (March. 28) at the Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Bulldogs improve to 6-6 overall, 1-1 in the MEAC, while Winthrop falls to 9-11 overall, 3-2 in the Big South.
The Eagles scored early winning the doubles point at the No. 2 (6-3) and No. 3 (6-1) spots.
The Bulldogs managed to earn the victory with single wins by
Jakub Vitek def. Diego Quiroz (7-6, 6-4) at the No. 2 spot;
Vladyslav Yanchenko def. Michael Chen (7-6, 6-0) at the No. 3 spot; Alexsander Stupar def. Ruy Teixeria (3-6,6-1,6-3) at the No. 5 spot and
Edgar Diaz def. Aditya Gokhale 6-2,6-4 at the No.6 spot.
Next up South Carolina State returns to action on Thursday (March. 31) in a MEAC showdown with North Carolina Central in Durham, NC. First serve begins at 1 p.m.
