CHARLESTON, SC—The South Carolina State men's tennis team improved to 5-5 overall after an, 6-1, victory over DePaul University Wednesday (March. 24) at The Citadel.
DePaul scored early on gaining wins at the No.1 (6-3) and No. 3 (6-2) spot in doubles play.
The Bulldogs dominated in singles action with
Martin Figura def. Sten Leusink (6-2,6-4) at the No. 1 spot;
Jakub Vitek def. Alex Galoustian (6-1,1-6,7-6) at the No. 2 spot;
Vladyslav Yanchenko def. Kyle Johnson (6-4, 6-1) at the No. 3 spot;
Cyprian Owczarz def. Paul John (1-6, 7-5, 1-0) at the No. 4 spot;
Aleksander Stupar def. Cohor O'Meara (6-4,6-4) at the No. 5 spot and
Edgar Diaz def. Tim Corwin 6-2,6-1 at the No. 6 spot.
Next up South Carolina State travels to the sunshine state to take on conference rival Florida A&M in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown. First serve is 10 a.m.
