Men's Basketball

No. 2 Norfolk State and No. 3 SC State Square Off

NORFOLK, Va—No.3-seed South Carolina State will face their toughest matchup of the tournament when they battle No.2-seed Norfolk State in the semifinal game of the MEAC Tournament at the Scope Arena. Tipoff is 8 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.

The last time the two teams met Norfolk State won in an 87-74 decision over South Carolina State at Echols Hall. Junior guard Eric Eaves tossed in a game-high 21 points, while teammate senior forward/center Darryl Palmer recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The No. 3 Bulldogs defeated the No.11 Eagles of Coppin State 90-80 to advance, while the No. 2 Spartans of Norfolk State cruised in a 66-47 victory over last season's tournament champion No.7 NC Central on Wednesday (Mar. 9) at the Scope Arena.

The 2016 MEAC Basketball Tournament tipped-off Monday, March 7, and will conclude on Saturday, March 12 with the men's and women's championship games.  The men's game will start at 1 p.m. and will broadcast live on ESPN2.  The women's finale will begin one hour after the men's finish and will broadcast taped delayed on ESPNU beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 13.  The preliminary games are streamed on ESPN3.
