Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's volleyball team defeated South Carolina State 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-22, 25-15) on Monday afternoon at Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.
The win was the first of the season for the Lady Tigers, who are now 1-20 overall and 1-4 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. SC State falls to 0-20 on the season and 0-5 in the MEAC.
Brianna Dafney had a match-high 21 kills and added eight digs and one block assist.
Ashante Finnie finished with seven kills, eight digs and 1.5 blocks. The Lady Bulldogs got team-highs from
Fabiola Plaza (28 assists),
Tyler Ockleberry (10 digs) and
KaShunyna Rooks (four service aces).
SC State gets to play its next two MEAC matches at home. The Lady Bulldogs host Florida A&M at 2 p.m. on Friday and Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Both matches will be played in Dukes Gymnasium.
