Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Four Bulldogs scored double-figures as South Carolina cruised to an, 91-75, victory over NC Central Saturday (Jan.9) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

 Sophomore guard Ed Stephens led the Bulldogs with a team-high 23 points, five assist, and three steals. Orangeburg native sophomore forward Tashombe Riley was the surprise of the night with 20 points, while teammate senior guard/forward Gabriel McCray chipped 15 points and five rebounds.

 The Bulldogs (7-10, 2-1 MEAC) hot-shooting afternoon out-gunned the Eagles (6-11, 1-2 MEAC) squad shooting 63.3 percent from the floor (31-49) and hitting 12-of-22 three-pointers in the victory.

 Stephens nailed two of his five 3-pointers in the first-half to give the Bulldogs a 41-31 advantage at halftime.

 SC State continued the strong three-point shooting into the second-half as Stephens and Riley dominated combining for 21 of the Bulldogs 50 after the break. Dante Holmes had a strong second-half with eight of his 10 points, and Jeremiah Ingram put in 12 points for NCCU.

 SC State led by as many as 20 in the second-half, but NCCU cut the deficit to as low as nine with help from Cole as he poured in 12 points of his game-high and career-high 24 after the midway point. 

Junior guard Eric Eaves finished with 13. The win for SC State marked its first victory against NCCU in 10 meetings, and the first time in the Division I era for NC Central.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Monday (Jan.11) when they host North Carolina A&T in another MEAC doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m.
