Bulldogs Conduct First Spring Scrimmage

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State football team held its seventh practice of the spring followed by the first full scrimmage Saturday at Dawson Stadium. The two hour scrimmage beginning at 7:50 a.m., and included various schemes on offense and defensive sets showed improvement on both sides of the ball.

"It was the first scrimmage you saw some good and bad but we had a lot of guys participate today," said SC State head coach Buddy Pough. "So now we have a chance to evaluate things and see if we can find some guys to help us late on down the line"

Pough also stated, "The offense had a good showing today and you will always find someone that's ahead of the other, whether it's on offense of defense. The good thing about it is that we found some guys that can make big plays and is showing promise."

"It's good when you can play young guys in a scheme like this, because it gives you a chance to rest your more veteran players," said Pough.
With less than two weeks left of the originally slated 15-practice schedule of the spring, head coach Buddy Pough noticed the intensity developing on both sides of the ball in the first scrimmage.

SC State will conduct their annual Pro Day Wednesday (Apr.1) with approximately 10 seniors from the 2014 team, which are scheduled to work out for pro scouts from National Football League teams.

The Bulldogs return to the practice fields Monday at 6:15 a.m., for the eighth spring workout. SC State will hold its annual Garnet & Blue Spring game Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. in Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
