KENNESAW,GA—The South Carolina State men's tennis team pulled out a tough, 4-3, victory over the Owls of Kennesaw State Sunday (Feb.8)at Kennworth Park in Acworth, Ga.

"It was definitely a hard fought match and we came out very flat at number two and  three doubles," said SC State Men's Coach Hardeep Judge.

The Bulldogs dropped the doubles point early on in the match to fall behind 3-0.

Meanwhile, in men's single action it was sophomore Martin Figura winning at the No. 2 spot (6-3, 3-6, 6-4);sophomore Soufiane Mouline at the No.4 spot (6-2,6-4);freshman Jakub Vitek at the No.5 spot (6-2,6-4) and Edgar Diaz at the No. 6 spot (6-1,1-6,6-3).

"We found ourselves in a big hole being down 3-0 after losing at one and two and spots," said Judge."It was a total team effort with Figura playing a great match, along with our two freshmen Edgar Diaz and Jakub Vitek coming through in the clutch gives them a lot of confidence moving forward."

Judge stated, "With guys being hurt and sick we really had to battle against a tough team. We will take the next two weeks to work on getting some guys healthy and into the lineup."

SC State returns to action on Saturday (Feb.21) against Troy University in Troy, Alabama.
