ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team look to turn things around when they host the visiting Bison of Howard University in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Tipoff for the women's contest is 5:30 p.m., following the men's contest in a 7:30 p.m. start.
The Bulldogs are currently in 6
th place with a 7-6 MEAC and 10-18 overall record. Meanwhile, the Bison are ranked 4
th in league standings at 8-5 and 14-13 overall.
Howard has three players in double figures with James Carlton and James Daniel each averaging over 16 points per outing, while sophomore James Miller adds 11.7. Carlton is the leader on the boards with 7.7 rebounds and 30 blocks.

Edward Stephens leads the way for SC State with 12.0 ppg. Sophomore guard
Greg Mortimer is second on the team 8.3 points, while teammates junior forward
Darryl Palmer and sophomore guard
Karon Wright chips in seven each.
Palmer leads the Bulldogs in rebounding with 6.9 and is currently 2
nd in the MEAC standings in blocks with 62 (2.2 per game) on the season.
Monday is Greek Night/Military Appreciation Night. Greek-letter fraternities and sororities will participate in several in-game activities including a 4-on-4 basketball game (halftime of the women's game) and party hops/strolls (halftime of the men's game).
Current and former military personnel will be recognized during both games and will be admitted to the game for $3 with a military ID. All SC State faculty and staff will receive free admission to all four games with a valid SC State ID. SC State will returns to action on Saturday (Feb.28) in a pivotal MEAC doubleheader with Savannah State at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Both teams will be celebrating "Senior Day" and will salute and honor two players from each team , along with the seniors from the men's and women's track & field teams during halftime of each game.
Tipoff for the women is 4 p.m., with the men following immediately afterwards in a 6 p.m. start.
