NORFOLK, Va. – South Carolina State freshman guard Edwad Stephens was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced.
Stephens (G, 6-2, 175, Fr., Columbia, S.C.) averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists against St. Andrews and Coppin State. He recorded 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal against Coppin State. This is Stephens fifth MEAC Rookie of the Week accolade this season.
Meanwhile, Arnold Fripp of Coppin State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Norfolk State's RaShid Gaston was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Ryan Andino (UMES) finished with 18 points, including five 3-pointers, against Howard and Hampton.
Cedric Blossom (MSU) averaged 19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.0 block and 0.5 assists against Coppin State and Savannah State.
Quintin Brewer (B-CU) finished with a double-double of 26 points, 19 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist against Stetson and Delaware State.
James Carlton (HOW) recorded 31 points, 11 rebounds and one block in an 83-74 conference win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Kendall Gray (DSU) tallied 14 rebounds, 11 points, two assists and two blocks in a 75-70 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
Ricky Johnson (B-CU) finished with a career-high 28 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds in a 77-72 loss to Stetson.
Mike Myers (UMES) totaled 32 points, 12 rebounds and four steals against Howard and Hampton.
Darryl Palmer (SCSU) averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists against St. Andrews and Coppin State.
