Lady Bulldogs Fall 1-0 to Delaware State in Independent Tournament Championship Game

Box Score FLORENCE, S.C. – The SC State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Delaware State in the championship game of the 2015 Independent Conference Tournament on Sunday hosted by Francis Marion University. The Lady Bulldogs end the season with a 2-11-1 record.

"To say I am proud of this group is an understatement," head coach Sandy Burris said. "The obstacles they have faced this season have not stopped them from fighting and playing good soccer. The fight and perseverance was shown in the finals on Sunday. They played a man down for 30 minutes and kept their composure and continued to fight a team…[and] should be proud of their efforts."

"We have had our challenges this season but are proud to be a part of SC State and this athletic department," Burris said. "We have proved that we can play with some of the better teams in our region. A special thank-you goes out to our training staff and strength and conditioning coaches for keeping us healthy and ready to compete."

Senior Haley Austin, junior Alexandra Kidd and sophomore Valery Fernandez-Davila were named to the all-tournament team.
