ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The South Carolina State women's volleyball team travels to Florida this weekend to resume Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play in matches at Florida A&M on Friday (7 p.m.) and Bethune-Cookman on Sunday (1 p.m.)
The Lady Bulldogs (2-15, 2-3 MEAC) are led offensively by freshman
Brianna Dafney, who paces the team in kills (143) and kills per set (2.55). Defensively, sophomore
Kirby Anderson is leads the team with 59 total blocks, while sophomore
Marcella Chestnut is tops on the team with 141 digs. Senior
Melanie Williams has a team-best 479 assists.
Florida A&M is 4-17 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The Rattlers are on a three-game losing streak after falling to Troy, Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. In the last meeting between SC State and FAMU, the Rattlers won 3-0 on Sept. 25 at Dukes Gym.
Bethune-Cookman hosts Savannah State on Friday and is 8-15, 5-0 (MEAC) heading into that contest. The Wildcats defeated the Lady Bulldogs 3-0 on Sept. 27 and are 0-3 in their most recent outings.
