Box Score GREENSBORO, NC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team improved to 3-1 in the MEAC after a hard fought, 52-50, victory over league rival N.C.A&T Monday at Corbett Sports Center.
The Bulldogs are 5-13 overall, while the Aggies fall to 4-14 overall, 1-3 in the MEAC. SC State posted its first win in the Corbett Center in nine years (Dec. 3, 2005).
Sophomore guard
Greg Mortimer finished with a team-best 10 points, while teammate
Patrick Kirksey added a team-high nine rebounds and six points for South Carolina State.
The Aggies had three players in double-figures with senior forward Bruce Beckford leading the way with 15 points and eight rebounds. Amad Abdullah added 11 points and six rebounds, while Steven Burrough chipped in 10 and eight rebounds in the loss.
This weekend, both teams will make the long trip to play at Delaware State on Saturday (women 4 p.m. /men 6 p.m) in Dover, Del. and Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday (5:30 p.m. women/7:30 p.m. men) in Princess Anne, Md.
