SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The South Carolina State men's cross country team turned in a 16^th-place finish at the 2014 USC Upstate Eye Opener on Friday.
 
Elijah Case led the Bulldog effort, finishing the 8K race in 31:42.79. Daniel Samet of Davidson won the race in 26:20.92.
 
Brandon Lowery finished next, with a time of 35:15.23. Keshon Green (41:40.36), Khorvon Nelson (44:41.36) and Taj Jones (46:47.64) also competed in the race for SC State.
 
The Bulldogs have 12 days to prepare for the Winthrop Invitational on Sept. 20.
