Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – Tahleia Bishop and Cassie Shado each had 10 kills to lead the University of Buffalo women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-19) win at the University of South Florida Invitational.
SC State (0-5) got out to a fast start and took a commanding 7-1 lead after a UB ball handling error. The Bulls regained their composure and got within one, 9-8, after a kill by Akeila Lain.
The Lady Bulldogs managed to hold on to the lead until back-to-back kills by Lain put UB up 16-15. The Bulls then went on a 9-3 run to take the set.
The Bulls came out focused in the second set and won it before the Lady Bulldogs could get in double digits.
SC State put up more of a fight in the third, but could not pull off the win.
Marissa Prinzbach had a match-high 32 assists for UB.
Ashante Finnie led the Lady Bulldog offense with six kills, while
Erica Pritchett and
Marissa Lawrence had five kills apiece.
Tyler Ockleberry tallied a match-high 11 digs, while
Victoria Rushin passed out 15 assists.
SC State takes on Florida International at 5 p.m.
