Keaton, Devinney Lead UT-Martin Past SC State 3-0

Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Emily Keaton had a match-leading 11 kills and teammate Julia Devinney tallied 10 kills to lead the University of Tennessee at Martin women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win (25-11, 25-15, 25-9) win over South Carolina State in the opening game of the ISTAP Collegiate Cup I Tournament presented by Doubletree by Hilton hosted by Alabama State University.
 
Set one started out close with the score being tied at 3-all after a kill by Marissa Lawrence. But a kill by Keaton gave the Skyhawks a lead they would hold for the remainder of the set. UT-Martin took a quick 7-2 lead to start the second set and limited the Lady Bulldogs to just 13 more points.
 
SC State (0-1) got out to a 2-0 lead in set three after a block by Kiana Stone and Shandice Sluch and a Skyhawk attack error. But UT-Martin took the final set 25-9 to win their first match of the season.
 
Madison Bergren had a match-high 35 assists and added two service aces for UT-Martin.
 
For SC State, Lawrence led the way with 10 kills and had two digs and one block assist. Melanie Williams had 18 assists and four digs.
