HOUSTON, TX—The South Carolina State Men's Basketball team will take on the University of Houston in the final game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic Regional Round at Hofheinz  Pavilion Saturday. Tipoff is 1 p.m. (CST)/ 2p.m. (EST)

The Bulldogs (3-8 overall, 2-0 MEAC) enters this weekend's contest looking to snap a three-game losing streak. SC State dropped a tough 101-39 defeat to Texas Tech Wednesday in the opening round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic in Lubbock, TX. Freshman forward Tashombe Riley led the Bulldogs with eight points, while sophomore Patrick Kirksey came off the bench to post a team-high nine rebounds.

Freshman guard Edward Stephens leads South Carolina State in scoring with 10.0 points per game, while junior forward Darryl Palmer paces the team with 6.6 rebounds and freshman point guard Ty Solomon is tops with 2.8 assists per contest.

Meanwhile, the Cougars (5-2) enter this weekend's contest on the heels of a surprising 61-56 loss in overtime to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday night, snapping their three-game winning streak.

Against the Golden Lions, junior guard Jherrod Stiggers led the way with 16 points, while junior guard LeRon Barnes added 14 points with 12 rebounds to set personal bests in each category and regain the American Athletic Conference lead with 8.1 rebounds per game.

Saturday's game will be the first time that Houston has faced South Carolina State in Men's Basketball.
