Women's Basketball Travels to Presbyterian on Saturday

Inside the Game
: SC State hits the road for its first game of the season away from the S-H-M Memorial Center this Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs head to Clinton, S.C. to take on Presbyterian College in a 2 p.m. matchup.  SC State is coming off its third straight win after a 60-50 defeat of USC Upstate on Tuesday.  Senior Kourtney Williams led the charge again, this time scoring 18 points. Junior Amber Howard also scored in double figures in that game with 14 points.
 
Presbyterian is 2-3 on the season and suffered a two-point loss (45-43) at Xavier on Wednesday. Redshirt junior Keyonna Allen leads the Blue Hose in scoring (10.6 ppg) and is tied with Aianna Kelly for the team lead in rebounding (7.4 rpg). Presbyterian's two wins were against Allen (120-45) and Western Carolina (51-44).
 
Series History: Presbyterian leads the all-time series with SC State 4-2, but the Lady Bulldogs have won the last two meetings. Last season, SC State posted a 43-41 win at the S-H-M Memorial Center. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Blue Hose 60-55 in Clinton, SC during the 2012-13 season.
 
Last Time Out: Senior guard Kourtney Williams had game-highs of 18 points and three blocks, while teammate junior guard Amber Howard tallied 14 points and six rebounds to lead the South Carolina State women's basketball team to a 60-50 win over USC Upstate on Wednesday night at the S-H-M Memorial Center.

Last Meeting:  The South Carolina State women opened their home basketball season with a 43-41 victory over Presbyterian behind 18 points by junior Kourtney Williams. The win was the first of the 2013-14 season for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 1-2.

Fast Start: The Lady Bulldogs' 3-0 start this season is the best start in head coach Doug Robertson's seven-year tenure. Robertson's most successful season was 2012-13 when his team finished with a 20-9 overall record and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.
 
Tough Defense: SC State is limiting opponent s to just 53.3 points per game so far this season. The Lady Bulldogs are forcing 34.3 turnovers per game, outrebounding opponents 42 to 36 and blocking at least four shots per game.
 
The Senior Leader: Senior guard Kourtney Williams has led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring in the first three games of the season and is averaging 19.7 points per game. She opened the season with 21 points against Allen, then had 20 points against Columbia College and 18 in the USC Upstate game. For the season, she is 22-of-43 from the floor (51.2 percent), 3-of-8 from 3-point range (37.5 percent) and 12-of-14 from the charity stripe (85.7 percent).
