JAMES ISLAND, S.C. – The South Carolina State women's cross country team finished ninth, while the men's team placed eighth at the College of Charleston Invitational on Friday at Trophy Lake Park.
The women were led by
Marketa Marcanikova who came in sixth overall in 18 minutes, 35.30 seconds. Michelle Kauffman of Campbell University was the individual winner, running a time of 18:02.20.
The Lady Bulldogs next five finishers were:
Jenae Jones (20:42.40),
Jennell Jones (21:13.20),
Jazmyne Jones (21:36.30),
Breonna Green (24:17.40) and
Nikkia Jefferson (24:44.40).
On the men's side,
Elijah Case led the charge for the sixth straight time this season. He completed the 8K course in 28:48.00. Kevin Mills of Wintrhop won the race in 25:01.10.
Kameron Wallace (30:17.10), Bandon Lowery (34:10.20),
Taj Jones (36:30.10), Michael Stackhouse (36:57.30) and
Khorvon Nelson (43:32:00) also scored for SC State.
Both teams have this week off to prepare for the 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships that will be held on November 1 in Dover, Del.
