SC State Falls to Florida A&M in MEAC Volleyball Match

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team fell to Florida A&M, 1-3, (25-22, 10-25, 8-25, 14-25), in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup.

Senior Desire Waller led SC State, (1-14, 1-1 MEAC), with a match-high 18 kills along with six digs and one block assist. Sophomore Marissa Lawrence contributed six kills while sophomore Melanie Williams put up 29 set assists in the match.

Florida A&M had four players to record double-digit kills led by Yeisha Arcia with 16. Katherine Huanec and Andrea Soriano each had 11 while Ginna Lopez-Chavez contributed 10 kills in the match. Diana Gonzales put up a match-high 44 set assists for the Lady Rattlers who improved to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in the MEAC.

SC State will return to action this Tuesday, Oct. 1, when they host Gardner-Webb in a non-conference match. First serve for Tuesday's match is set for 7 p.m. in Dukes Gym. The Lady Bulldogs will close-out their four-match home-stand this Friday, Oct. 4, when they host Savannah State in a MEAC match in Dukes Gym.
