SC State Falls to UNC-Charlotte on Day One of the 49er Invitational

Charlotte, N.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team fell to host UNC-Charlotte, 0-3 (15-25, 13-25, 17-25), on the first day of the 49er Invitational. The invitational, which concludes tomorrow (Sat., Sept. 21), is being contested at the Halton Arena on the campus of UNC-Charlotte.

Senior Desire Waller was the only SC State player to record double-digits kills with a game-high 10. Freshman Victoria Ferguson picked up 10 digs while sophomore Melanie Williams put up 18 set assists for the Lady Bulldogs who dropped to 0-10 on the season.

UNC-Charlotte was paced by Amanda Videmsek who also had a game-high 10 kills. Michelle Hovey picked up a game-high 15 digs and Britney Leigh Held had a game-high 27 set assists for the 49ers as they improved to 8-4.

SC State will open tournament play tomorrow (Sat., Sept. 21) when they take on Elon University at 10 a.m. The Lady Bulldogs will close out tournament play versus Tennessee State University at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
