SC State Women’s Volleyball Team Drops 2013 Home-Opener to Wofford

Orangeburg, S.C.—Junior Desire Waller put down six kills and picked up five digs as SC State dropped its 2013 home-opener to Wofford, 0-3, ( 17-25, 16-25, 15-25). With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs remain winless on the season at 0-10.

SC State did not have any players to record double-digit kills as Marissa Lawrence and Shandice Sluch each recorded five kills on the night. Sophomore Melanie Williams put up 19 set assists while freshman Victoria Ferguson picked up 10 digs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Wofford was led by Taylor Baird with a game-high 10 kills. Amanda Liguori put down nine kills and Bekah Doresy put up 29 set assists for UNC-Asheville, who improved to 5-6 on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs will close out its 2013 tournament play this weekend when they travel to Charlotte, N.C., to participate in the 49er Invitational hosted by UNC-Charlotte.
