SC State Women’s Volleyball To Host Wofford in 2013 Home-Opener

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team will host Wofford in its 2013 home-opener. First serve for the contest is set for 6 p.m. in Dukes Gymnasium on the campus of SC State.

SC State opened its 2013 season with three straight road tournaments and will close out tournament play this weekend (Friday-Saturday, Sept. 20-21) at the 49er Invite which is being hosted by UNC-Charlotte. The Lady Bulldogs enters tomorrow's match with a 0-9 overall record.

The Wofford Terriers enters tomorrow's match with a 4-6 overall record, after defeating Niagara, 3-0, in their last outing. Amanda Liguori leads the Terriers offensively with 126 kills (3.07 k/s) while Jessica Graham leads the team defensively with 164 digs (4.00 dig/s).

For the Lady Bulldogs, senior Desire Waller continues to be the lead attacker with 97 kills (3.59 k/s), while senior Alyse Lewis is continuing her dominance at the net with a total of 23 blocks (3-solo-20 assists). Sophomore setter Melanie Williams has put up 172 set assists while freshman Victoria Ferguson leads the team defensively in digs with 79.

After the 49er Invite the Lady Bulldogs will return home for a four-game home-stand beginning Friday, Sept. 27 when they open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play against Bethune-Cookman in a 7 p.m. matchup. SC State will then host MEAC Florida A&M (Sunday, Sept. 29), Gardner-Webb (Tuesday, Oct. 1) and Savannah State (Friday, Oct. 4).

All SC State home volleyball games are played in Dukes Gymnasium unless otherwise noted and are free of charge.
