SC State Knocks Off James Madison 6-1 In Men’s Tennis Action

Junior Artemiy Nikitin leads the charge for the Bulldogs this season with a 6-0 record in singles play.
CHARLOTTE, NC—The South Carolina State men's tennis team have seemed to turn things around after knocking off non-conference foe James Madison 6-1 Thursday in Charlotte, NC.
          The Bulldogs winners of the last three contest defeated  Winthrop (2/1), NC Central (3/3) and James Madison (3/7) to improve to 4-2 overall, 1-1 in the MEAC on the season.
SC State claimed the doubles point early on in the contest with Protsenko/Nikitin def. Pool/Stirling 8-4, and Bizon/Stiburek def. Russo/Sentenac winning easily 8-3.
           In singles men's action, senior Anton Protsenko  def. Pool in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot; senior Tomas Bizon def. Vladimirsky  7-5, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot; and junior Artemiy Nikitin knocked off Stirling 6-0, 6-4.
            Freshmen Jiri Stiburek  and Marius Dragoi both had impressive days with Stiurek  winning easily in two sets 6-1, 6-1, Dragoi pulled out a victory in three sets 4-6, 6-3, and 1-0.
            SC State will return to action on Monday when they face Robert Morris in a non-conference matchup in Orlando, Fl. First serve begins at 1 p.m.
