SC State Defeats Winthrop 4-3 In Men’s Tennis Action

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State Bulldogs knocked off non-conference foe Winthrop University 4-3 in men's tennis action Friday at the SCSU Tennis Courts.

Coach Hardeep Judge and the Bulldogs improve to 2-2 on the season. SC State dominated in doubles play with Protsenko/Nikitin def. Comford/Decandia 8-7; Vinogradovs/Dragoi def. Nagovnak/Hirokawa 8-6; and Bizon/Stiburek won over Patrick/Boada 8-7.

In singles action senior Peteris Vinogradovs def. Peter Nagovnak in three sets 4-6, 7-6, 7-1 at the No. 3 spot; at the No. 4 spot Artemiy Nikitin won in two sets 6-1, 6-1 over Yuta Hirokawa and freshman Jiri Stiburek knocked off Jun Boada 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot.

South Carolina State will return to action on this weekend when they face NC Central in the annual MEAC Roundup.
