Bulldogs Seek Season Sweep Over Aggies

—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will be on the road this weekend seeking their second league win against N.C. A&T on Saturday at Corbett Arena.Tip-off is 4 p.m., immediately following the women's contest.
        Coach Murray Garvin and the Bulldogs snapped a 26 conference game losing streak earlier this season when they knocked off the Aggies 72-70 (2/16/13) in Orangeburg. Freshman forward Darryl Palmer tossed in a team-high 18 points in the win, earning MEAC Rookie of the Week honors for his play against N.C. A&T.
        The Bulldogs 5-21 overall, 1-12 in the MEAC suffered a tough 75-72 double overtime loss to Florida A&M on Monday in Tallahassee. Once again it was Palmer leading the way with a breakout performance for the Bulldogs finishing with 22 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and four monster dunks to highlight the night.
       Junior forward Matthew Hezekiah leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 13.4 ppg , 7.7 rbg, while senior point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 12.4 points per game and 5.4 assists.  Palmer is second on the team in rebounding with 5.4, while adding 9.3 ppg and 1.5 (45) blocks per outing.
       The Aggies 13-15 overall, 6-7 in the league looing to snap a three-game losing skid against the Bulldogs. Forward Lamont Middleton lead the way for N.C. A&T State with 12.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per outing, while teammate Adrian Powell adds 12.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg. Forward Austin Witter leads the team in rebounding with 7.3.
        South Carolina State will return to action Monday when they close out their regular season four-game road swing against NC Central. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m., immediately following the women's contest.
