SC State Women Face Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, AL -- Both visiting SC State and host Jacksonville State will be trying to snap long losing streaks when the two teams meet Thursday at 8 p.m. ET at the Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Lady Bulldogs have dropped four in a row, the latest an 81-78 setback at Alabama A&M on Tuesday. The loss put Coach Doug Robertson's team to 1-6.

The Gamecocks, meanwhile, also lost on Tuesday -- 60-54 to Mercer at home, their sixth consecutive setback. Jacksonville State fell to 1-6 with the loss.

Robertson's Lady Bulldogs, still seeking their first road win, continue to be led by junior guard Kourtney Williams, who is averaging 19.1 ppg and 6.6 rebounds. Also in double figures for SC State is sophomore redshirt guard Mykala Jones with an 11.6 mark. Junior center Persephone Goodwin is the team's top rebounder with 6.9 per game, and is also contributing 7.1 points each outing.

The Gamecocks feature three players in double figures, led by junior guard Candace Morgan's 17.6 ppg. Destany McLin, another guard, is scoring at a 12.6 per game, while senior center Miranda Cantrell, is scoring 10.6 ppg and is averaging a team-leading 8.3 boards.
