SC State Loses 81-78 to Alabama A&M

Box Score HUNTSVILLE, AL – SC State had three players in double figures, led by a game-high 23 by Kourtney Williams, but it was not enough as host Alabama A&M had four players to reach double digits, 21 by Brittney Strickland, earned an 81-78 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

SC State, which lost four players to fouls, among them three starters, also got 18 points from MyKala Jones and 14 from Cabriel Duren in the loss which dropped Coach Doug Robertson's team to 1-6 on the season.

Alabama A&M also got 17 points from Alyssa Strickland, the twin to Brittney Strickland, 15 from Shabran Richardson and 14 from Taylor Sippial. It was the second s traight win for Alabama A&M, which climbed to 2-6.

The contest was plagued by fouls as the host went to the line 42 times, converting 29. SC State had just 26 chances from the charity stripe, making 21.

The visiting Bulldogs, who led 46-40 at the half, lost starters Persophone Goodwin, Cherisha Floyd and Duren, and reserve Brittany Andersen to fouls. SC State remains in Alabama for a Thursday night contest at Jacksonville State.
