SC State Women’s Basketball Resume Play at College of Charleston

SC State Resume's Play at College of Charleston on Saturday
Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's basketball team will resume play, Saturday, Nov. 30, when they travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on the Cougars of the College of Charleston. This will be the second-of-six straight road games that conclude on December 22 at the University of South Carolina.

SC State enters the contest with a 1-3 overall record after falling to the University of Georgia, 54-78, on Tuesday (Nov. 26). The Lady Bulldogs had three players to finish in double-digits led by Kourtney Williams with 15, including 13 in the second half. Persephone Goodwin had a good all-around game as she scored 13 points with five rebounds coupled with two blocks and one steal. Cabriel Duren contributed 13 points while Mykala Jones and Brittany Andersen had seven points each in the loss. Williams leads SC State in scoring at 20.3 points while Goodwin is leading the team in rebounding at 7.8 per outing.

The College of Charleston enters the contest at 2-3 overall after falling to UNC-Greensboro 56-64, in their last outing. Erin Hall recorded a double-double, 17 points-10 rebounds while Alyssa Frye dropped in 11 points in the loss. The Cougars had two players with double-digit rebounds as Afreyea Tolbert pulled in 11 boards in the contest. On the season, Frye and Tolbert are leading the team in scoring at 12.6 points per contest. Tolbert, who is averaging a double-double, leads the team in rebounding at 10 per contest.

The Lady Bulldogs will take a break from competition during exam week before resuming its six-game road swing on Saturday, December 14 when they travel to Clemson University. SC State will face Alabama A&M (12-17), Jacksonville State (12-19) and South Carolina (12-22) before returning home to open its 2013-14 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on December 30.
