SC State Women’s Volleyball Host Savannah State in MEAC Match

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team will host Savannah State, tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 4, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match. First serve for tomorrow's match is set for 7 p.m. in Dukes Gym.

SC State enters the match with a 1-14 overall 1-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). In their last outing (Oct. 1), the Lady Bulldogs fell to Gardner-Webb, 3-0. Senior Desire Waller is the leading attacker for the Lady Bulldogs with 197 kills (3.86 kills/set). Waller also has 112 digs on the season. Senior Alyse Lewis and freshman Victoria Ferguson leads the team defensively with 43 blocks and 130 digs, respectively.

Savannah State enters the match 0-18 overall and 0-2 in the MEAC. This is the first match in four days for the Lady Tigers, who fell to Bethune-Cookman, 0-3, on September 29. Bianca Brochu leads Savannah State in kills with 78. Christian Lyle has 27 blocks and Gadis has 113 digs to lead the Lady Tigers defensively. Asiha Williams and Alexis Washington also have double-digit digs on the season with 107 and 106, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs will have six days off from competition before heading to North Carolina for a pair of MEAC matches. SC State will face North Carolina A&T on Friday, Oct. 11 and North Carolina Central on Sunday, Oct. 13. The Lady Bulldogs will return to Dukes Gym on Tuesday, Oct. 15 when they host Alabama A&M in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
