SC State Women’s Volleyball Team Hits the Road for a Pair of MEAC Matches

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team will travel to North Carolina this Friday and Sunday, Oct. 11 and 13, for a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matches. The Lady Bulldogs will take on North Carolina A&T on Friday and North Carolina Central on Sunday. SC State enters the weekend with a 2-15 overall record and 2-1 record in the MEAC. In their last outing (Friday, Oct. 4), the Lady Bulldogs defeated Savannah State, 3-0, in a MEAC match. Senior Desire Waller is the leading attacker for SC State with 206 kills (3.81 kills/set). Senior Alyse Lewis and freshman Victoria Ferguson leads the team defensively with 46 blocks (11 solo-35 assists) and 141 digs, respectively.

North Carolina A&T enters Friday's match with a 2-18 overall record and 1-2 record in the MEAC. Aleena McDaniel and Brooke Stamnes leads the team offensively with 169 and 153 kills, respectively. The Lady Aggies have three players with double-digit digs, Ashley Johnson (252), McDaniel (152) and Stamnes (133).

North Carolina Central, who will face Savannah State on Friday (Oct. 11), enters the weekend with a 0-20 overall record and 0-3 MEAC bill. Da'Sha Brown and Kalin Russell are leading the team in kills with 154 and 137, respectively. Kelsey Murphy has 148 digs to lead the Lady Eagles defensively.

The Lady Bulldogs will return to Dukes Gymnasium next Tuesday, Oct. 15, when they host Alabama A&M in a 7 p.m. non-conference match. SC State will then hit the road for three-straight games beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they travel to Buies Creek, NC to take on Campbell University. The Lady Bulldogs will then face Florida A&M (Oct. 25) and Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 27) in a pair of MEAC matches.
