SC State Teams Battle Coppin State In MEAC Doubleheader

BALTIMORE, MD—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball team will return to action on Monday, when they face Coppin State in a pivotal MEAC showdown at the Physical Education Center. Tip-off for the women begins at 5:30 p.m., with the men following immediately after.
        Coach Doug Robertson and the Lady Bulldogs are off to their best start under his tenure with a 10-4 record, 2-1 mark in the league. Senior guard Tiara Knotts lead the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 15.4 ppg, while newcomer transfer Ashley Clark had outstanding debut for SC State in her first game, tossing in 14 points in the win 83-74 win over Morgan State on Saturday.
           Meanwhile, on the men's side the Bulldogs still searching for their first conference win since 2010 against Coppin State. SC State dropped its 18th straight MEAC contest in a 76-60 loss to Morgan State in their last outing. Junior center Matthew Hezekiah leads the way for the Bulldogs with 13.3 points per game, while grabbing a team-high 8.5 rebounds. Senior point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 12.1 ppg, and 3.1 rebounds.
