SC State Falls to Campbell in Women’s Volleyball

Orangeburg, SC--The SC State women's volleyball team fell to Campbell, 3-0 (27-29, 17-25, 25-22, 18-25), in a non-conference matchup in Dukes Gymnasium.

SC State (2-5) took Campbell to extra points in Set One falling 27-29.  Campbell (5-7) dominated the second set winning 17-25.  After the 10 minute intermission, the Lady Bulldogs came out refocused, winning Set Three 25-17.  The teams exchanged points throughout the first half of Set Four. Campbell used a 3-0 run to take a 19-16 lead and control of the set. The Camels closed the set on a 9-2 run to capture Set Four 25-18 and the match 3-1.

Desire Waller recorded a game-high 27 kills and Melanie Williams put 36 set assists for SC State in the loss.  Lindsey Coats and Zam Zuber recorded 13 and 10kills, respectively to lead Campbell in the victory.

SC State will have nine days off from competition before heading to Norfolk, Va. to participate in the Spartan Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University.

The Lady Bulldogs will return home, Friday, Oct. 12, when they host North Carolina A&T in an Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup.
