2012 SC State Bulldogs Men's Tennis Team
ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's tennis teams close out MEAC regular season play today, as they host the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman for the Southern Division Championship at 1 p.m. at the SCSU Tennis Courts.
South Carolina State will be celebrating “Senior Day” honoring four student-athletes who will play their final tennis match at SCSU Tennis Courts. Among the four being honored are senior's Suhaila Jad (12-1 singles), Sabrina Mendez (14-0 singles), Dmytro Kovlaeych (9-7 singles), and Young Kwan Lee (5-0 singles).
The Lady Bulldogs (14-0 overall, 3-0 MEAC) winners of the last seven-straight division titles will battle a very talented Lady Wildcat team (16-5 overall, 2-0 MEAC). In their last outing, SC State dominated conference rival Florida A&M 7-0 in Tallahassee, FL.
Meanwhile, the men (14-2 overall, 2-0 MEAC) will be tested for the second-straight week by a talented team from the sunshine state in Bethune-Cookman (10-11).  The Bulldogs gain total control last week of the southern division by knocking # 68 nationally-ranked FAMU in a 4-3 decision.
“Our goal is to finish the season undefeated on the women's side and win outright on the men,” said SC State head coach Hardeep Judge. “I think as we play each match we get better and better and it helps that we are getting healthier along the way.”
Both teams will return to action with the men battling Gardner-Webb on the road in a non-conference matchup Saturday, April1, while the women return to action on Friday, April 6, as they host East Carolina in a 1 p.m. showdown.
