STATESBORO, GA---The South Carolina State women's tennis team remain focused on their quest to their eighth-straight league crown, with a dominating 7-0 victory over Georgia Southern at GSU's new renovated tennis complex Saturday.

With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 5-0 on the season, after an impressive 5-2 decision over Stetson University on Friday.

SC State jumped out quickly winning the doubles point with wins at number 2 and 3 spot. Play was halted on number 1 doubles with SCSU leading 6-3.

In singles action, the lady Bulldogs went on to win all six singles positions with senior Suhaila Jad sealing the 7-0 victory with a win at number 1 singles defeating previously undefeated Paola Garrido

“I was very pleased with the effort of his team, we had a tough 5-2 win over Stetson yesterday afternoon and our team worked hard on not having a letdown against a solid GSU squad,”  said SC State head coach  Hardeep Judge.

On the men's side the Bulldogs defeated GSU 6-1 to go 3-1 on the season. The Bulldogs won all three doubles and their only loss came at number 6 singles as Young Lee lost to Marco Osorio 6-3 6-1.

“I thought we started a little slow in singles today, but were able to recover well even though we started a little tentative,” stated Judge.  “Once we get a couple of our injured players back healthy we will be a talented team.”

Junior Peteris Vinogradovs and Anton Protsenko also picked up key three set victories today for the Bulldogs.

Judge stated, “I am proud of our guys for working hard on the things that will make us a better team. Sophomore Artemiy Nikitin,  junior Dymtro Kovalevych, and freshman Tomas Bizon played great tennis for us today.”
