SC State Basketball Teams Hit The Road In MEAC Doubleheader

GREENSBORO, NC---The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams hit the road this weekend to take on rival N.C. A&T State in a pivotal MEAC doubleheader Saturday.

      The Bulldogs (5-18 overall, 0-9 MEAC) will be seeking their first conference win of the season against a scrappy and tough Aggie (10-10 overall, 5-5 MEAC) team. In their last outing SC State snapped a 16-game losing streak with a 74-58 victory over Longwood University Tuesday.
 
      Senior guard Brandon Riley leads the team in scoring with 17.3 ppg, while the floor general point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 10.9 ppg, senior Omar Sanders leads team in rebounding with 7.5, while scoring 10.3 points per contest.
 
       On the women's side, the Lady Bulldogs (9-11 overall, 4-5 MEAC) takes on a talented Lady Aggie (10-13 overall, 5-5 MEAC) coached by legendary coach Patricia Bibbs.
 
          Junior point guard Tiara Knotts leads the team in scoring with 12.3 ppg, while forward Paris Alston and guard Cabriel Durnen averaging a little over 8.5 points per outing. Junior forward Tiana Hemphill leads the team in rebounding grabbing 8.3 boards per contest.
 
         Both teams will return to action on Monday when they travel to Durham, NC to take on NC Central in a crucial MEAC doubleheader. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m., with the men following immediately after.
