SC State Volleyball Team Makes Quick Work of Savannah State

Orangeburg, S.C. (Nov. 2, 2012)—The SC State women's volleyball team defeated Savannah State, 3-0, (25-13, 25-10, 25-15), in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest on Friday.  With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-13 overall and 5-3 in the MEAC while Savannah State remained winless at 0-29 overall and 0-8 in the MEAC.

SC State had one of its best overall team outings of the season, hitting .424 with seven blocks and 11 service aces in the match.  The Lady Bulldogs were equally as solid on defense as they held the Savannah State to just 19 kills for a hitting percentage of -.068 for the match.

Junior Desire Waller and senior E. Paige Webb led the way for SC State with 14 kills and 11 digs, respectively.  Sophomore Maya Bell had seven kills and freshman Melanie Williams put up 21 set assists in the contest.  Christian Lyle had five kills and Kaneisha Hamilton had seven digs for Savannah State in the loss.

The Lady Bulldogs will closeout its 2012 regular season on the road next weekend, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 9-11, when they travel to North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T, respectively.  SC State will then travel to Baltimore, Md., Nov. 16-18, to participate in the 2012 MEAC postseason tournament.
