The win also gave the Lady Bulldogs sole possession of second place in the southern division of the MEAC.

After dropping the first set of the match, 18-25, SC State (9-13, 9-3 MEAC), began to play a little more aggression.  After exchanging points with North Carolina Central (7-21, 5-4) over the first 15 rotations of Set Two the Lady Bulldogs took control.  SC State went on a 4-2 run to take the 12-9 advantage and never looked back.  The Lady Bulldogs would increase their lead to five, 17-12, before going on to win Set Two, 25-21, and tie the match at 1-1 heading into intermission.

After intermission, SC State remained aggressive.  North Carolina Central won the first two points of the sets but the Lady Bulldogs quickly rebounded using a 7-3 run, to go ahead 7-5, to regain the momentum.  North Carolina Central managed to stay close to SC State over the next three points but could never regain the lead.  The Lady Bulldogs went up by as many as seven, 21-14, late in the contest before going on to capture Set Three, 25-20, and the 2-1, lead in the match.

SC State completely dominated Set Four, hitting .400 while holding North Carolina Central to a dismal .105 hitting percentage in the Set. The Lady Bulldogs put down 18 kills in the set en route to the 25-19 Set Four victory.
