Box Score Orangeburg, S.C.—SC State had 18 shots and The Citadel recorded 15 but neither team could find the back of the net as the teams played to a 0-0 tie in a non-conference matchup at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on the campus of SC State.
In a game that saw 10 total penalties, eight yellow cards (6 SC State-2 Citadel) and two red cards (1 SC State-1 Citadel), both teams still managed to have their chances at the net. Of the 18 shots by SC State (1-3-2) five were shots on goal and of The Citadel's (2-3-1) 15, seven were at the goal.
In spite of the penalties neither team gave up fighting as each team had at least one shot at the net in overtime. While SC State and the Citadel played a pretty even match throughout, the SC State Lady Bulldogs did hold a 13-0 advantage in corner kicks.
SC State will have just one complete day of rest before returning to the field as they travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on Liberty University this Friday, Sept. 16. The Lady Bulldogs will then travel to UNC-Asheville (Sept. 18), Winthrop (Sept. 21) and Longwood (Sept. 25) before returning back to Bulldog Stadium on October 1 when they open their Great West Conference (GWC) play versus the University of North Dakota.
