SC State Women’s Volleyball Hit the Road for the Second-of-Three Straight Road Tournaments

Three-of-Four Weekend Matches of Available via Per-Pay-View

Waller currently leads the Lady Bulldogs in kills per set
Orangeburg, S.C. – The SC State University women's volleyball team will hit the road this Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 15-17, for the second-of-three straight road tournaments. The lady Bulldogs will to Statesboro, Ga. to participate in the Bash in the Boro presented by Springhill Suites and hosted by Georgia Southern.

SC State will open the tournament on Thursday (Sept. 15) at 5 p.m. when they take on the Panthers of Georgia State. The Lady Bulldogs will take on Ohio on Friday (Sept. 16) at 10 a.m. before facing Presbyterian at 5 p.m. on Friday. SC State will close out the tournament against host Georgia Southern on 1 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 17).

The Lady Bulldogs enters the tournament with a 4-6 record after dropping all three matches of the Jacksonville Tournament last weekend (Sept. 9-10). Sophomore Desiree Waller finished the tournament with 40 kills, 14 total blocks, and 28 digs. On the season Waller and redshirt junior Shabree Roberson is currently leading the team in hitting averaging 3.09 and 2.42 kills per set. As a team, SC State is averaging 10.36 kills per set and 2.18 blocks per set.

SC State will conclude it road swing next weekend, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 23-24, at the Alabama State Tournament in Montgomery, Ala. The Lady Bulldogs will return home on Friday, Sept. 30 when they host Bethune-Cookman in its 2011 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opener.
