CLEMSON, S.C. – The SC State University women's volleyball team will open its 2011 season this weekend, Friday-Saturday, August 26-27, at the two-day Big Orange Bash hosted by Clemson University.

SC State will open the tournament on Friday at 4:30 p.m. when they take on the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State. The Lady Bulldogs will take on Loyola University of Maryland on Saturday at 10 a.m. before closing the tournament against host Clemson University at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

SC State will open its 2011 home season next weekend, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 2-3 when they host the SC State Spikefest. The Lady Bulldogs will then hit the road for three straight tournaments beginning September 9-10 when they travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the Jacksonville University Tournament. SC State will participate in the Georgia Southern Tournament (Sept. 15-17) and the Alabama State Tournament (Sept. 23-24) before returning back home to begin its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Title defense against Bethune-Cookman on Friday, Sept. 30.

SC State, the 2010 MEAC Champions, finished the regular season 17-23 overall, and second in the MEAC South Division at 6-2. The Lady Bulldogs are beginning their first season under Interim Head Coach Donika Sutton.
