SUMTER,SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's team dominated the first day of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Roundup held in Sumter, SC on Wednesday. Both the men's and women's post victories over Bethune-Cookman 7-0.

       On the women's side, the Lady Bulldogs (6-2) were led by senior and #83 nationally-ranked Daria Sekerina defeating Katarina Szaboova (6-1, 6-3) and  freshman Akilah James downing Staley Lopez(6-3,6-0).

       Others posting victories were Suhaila Jad def. Shereen Peterson-Paul(6-3, 1-0 ret.), Maria Craciun def. Andrea Paez (6-1,6-1), Sabrina Mendez def. Nancy Gonzales(6-0, 6-0) and Laura Bosneag def. Laura Rodriguez 6-0, 6-0.

       The Lady Bulldogs also won the double point with Sekerina/Craciun def.Szaboova/Lopez (8-7), Jad/Mendez def. Peterson-Paul/Paez (8-3) and James/Bosneag def. Gonzales/Rodriguez 8-0.

       The men were led by senior Gabriel Meana defeating Marc Misanvoic (4-6, 6-0, 1-0) and junior Dymtro     Kovalevych topping off Emil Vassilev 6-1, 6-2. Other Bulldogs (5-2) earning single victories were sophomore Anton Protsenko (Ukraine) def.Santiago Lobelo (6-2, 7-5), Peteris Vinogradous(Latvia) def. Jeff Smallwood (6-3, 6-2), Artemiy Nikitin(Russia) def. Kristofer Martin(6-0, 6-2), and senior David Grund def. Vitor Belucci 6-1, 6-0.

       SC State also posted the doubles victory with Meana/Vinogradous def. Misanovic/Smallwood (8-3), Kovalevych/Protsenko def.Vassilev/Martin (8-0) and Nikitin/Grund/ def. Lobelo/Belucci 8-5.

          Both the women's and men's team are coach by 2010 MEAC Most Oustanding Coach Hardeep Judge (10^th season) and assistant Suzanna Mansour (1^st season).
