Orangeburg, S.C.--The SC State women's basketball team will closeout it's six-game road swing this Sunday, December 18, when they take on Coastal Carolina as part of the 2011 Crescent Bank Carolina Challenge. Tip-off for the contest is set for 5 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
SC State enters the contest with a 3-6 overall record. Tiara Knotts continues to be the only Lady Bulldog player scoring in double-figures at 12.4 points per game. Junior forward Trinese Fox is the team's second leading scorer averaging 7.1 per game. Junior Tiana Hemphill is averaging 7.6 boards per outing to lead SC State.
Coastal Carolina enters the evening with a 6-1 overall record. The Chanticleers have two players scoring in double-figures as Shatia Cole and Angelica Henry are averaging 12.1 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Shanika Maddox leads the team in rebounding at 9.7 boards per outing.
The Lady Bulldogs will host UNC-Asheville on Monday (Dec. 19). Due to renovations to the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center floor (the home court of the Lady Bulldogs), the 6 p.m. contest will be played at the Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Physical Education Center (Tullis Arena) on the campus of Claflin University, which is adjacent to SC State.
